Blackness Castle is located in West Lothian and has limited public transport. It is situated 16 miles from Edinburgh on the banks of the firth of Forth. By car it can take 40 minutes depending on traffic.  The Boness Community Bus runs a minibus from Edinburgh and can be booked by visiting their website.

Where can you eat & drink in Blackness?

Blackness is a very small village with only a road into the village and another adjacent to the sea. The local pub is the Lobster Pot and opened in 2019. This serves everything from coffee, alcoholic drinks, snacks and bar meals. It also homes the local village shop

 

What else can you do near Blackness Castle?

As the Castle is located on the coast it also worth taking a walk along the coast line.  Please note that the wind can often be very strong so it is best to check the forecast and dress appropriately with lots of layers that can be added or removed. Looking back to the East there is great views of the Forth bridges.

When in the area it is also worth visiting other attractions such as; Linlithgow Palace, Boness Steam railway, Hopetoun house and The House of the Binns.
